Amelia Morton, Franklin Elementary School Kindergarten Teacher
Mrs. Amelia Morton is the kindergarten teacher every parent dreams of and every child remembers fondly. Each morning, she stands in the hallway with her signature bright smile, personally greeting every student. Her cheerful energy fills the building, and it’s no surprise that former students often stop by just to say hello. Inside her classroom, you’ll find a place of joy, structure, and growth. Mrs. Morton has intentionally established clear routines and procedures that help her young learners feel safe, confident, and ready to thrive. Her classroom hums with songs, laughter, and hands-on learning. With gentle guidance, she nudges every child toward their full potential, ensuring they grow not just academically, but socially and emotionally as well. Mrs. Morton is deeply committed to building strong partnerships with families. She communicates regularly to ensure parents feel informed, supported, and valued. She goes above and beyond to meet families where they are—whether that means coming in early, staying late, or connecting outside of the school day. Mrs. Morton’s positive energy and professionalism inspire her colleagues, encouraging them to excel as she leads by example. She holds herself to the highest professional standard, and the results of her dedication are evident in her students’ remarkable growth each day. A lifelong learner herself, Mrs. Morton once shared that she became a student of the Science of Reading years before it became district-wide practice, driven by her desire to understand how children learn best. Before teaching kindergarten, she served as a Math RTI specialist, and when the opportunity arose to return to the classroom, she embraced it wholeheartedly—leaving her mark as a masterful kindergarten educator who blends structure, joy, and research-based practice seamlessly. Mrs. Morton is also a grade-level chairperson, PTA building representative, and an active member of our School Spirit Committee. She also serves on the SDMT and is a Senior KTA Representative. Thank you, Mrs. Morton, for embodying everything that makes Franklin Elementary such a special place.
